The Brief
This job was to renovate this staircase in Aldwick, West Sussex, to create a stunning glass staircase to be the centerpiece of the home. The structure and layout of the previous staircase was solid and positioned well, meaning a renovation was the most cost-effective option to change the look.
Action taken
As with all staircase projects, whether they’re a new build or renovation, one of the first steps in the process is to invite the customer over to our workshops. This is where they get to choose the various details such as handrails, newel posts, newel caps, spindles or glass. A nearly impossible task to do by looking at pictures, over the phone or email, that’s why we always insist on a visit to us to view our well-stocked range of samples.
Outcome
Once everything had been made, we then headed to the site to start fitting, a refurb of this size usually takes around 4-6 days. Towards the end of the project, we used MDF as a template for the glass, to ensure the glass manufacturers had the correct measurements and the clients were happy with the exact layout. Once the glass was fitted it was then handed over to the decorators and carpet fitters to complete the finished look.
JLA did a superb job on our staircase which has transformed our home and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.
