Bespoke Oak & Glass Staircase With Large Upstairs Built In Wardrobes
Allowing light to shine through the barn on the way up to large bespoke fitted wardrobes
The Brief:
We were contacted by some customers in Mundham, Chichester, West Sussex – a nice local job as the village of Mundham is only 10 mins away, they wanted a new oak and glass staircase to replace their existing stair to gain more light and better use the space.
They also wanted some large bedroom storage made and fitted in the master bedroom which is the room the stairs led up too.
Action taken:
First we removed the existing stairs and went about building a large stud wall within the old oak beams of their lovely barn conversion, this allowed them to have a larger bedroom behind the new wall and a new opening for the new stairs to lead up to.
Once the wall was complete and plastered we fitted the new staircase and then set about making all the units at the workshop which would all be fitted and eventually make up the huge set of wardrobes/draws and hanging space they have either side of the doorway in their master bedroom.
Outcome:
All that was left was to get the decorator in to paint the wardrobes then once all works were complete we then go in to fit the glass in the stairs – we do this at the end of a customer’s project to reduce the risk of damaging the glazing with all the trades working around it.

We asked JLA joinery to quote for a replacement staircase and a bank of wardrobes and storage in our master bedroom this year. We have been delighted with the work, and the whole process from design through to execution and finish was carried out in a professional and courteous manner.
We would highly recommend JLA – the patience and guidance shown in helping us achieve a design that made the most of our space, the polite and professional way in which the work was executed, and the tidiness at the end of each day, meant that disruption to the household was minimal.
