The Brief
For this staircase project, the objectives were simple. We needed to replace the old paint-finish and carpet staircase with a solid oak and glass balustrade version. The customer’s lovely home had a lot of existing oak items, such as internal doors and furniture, so they really wanted the stairs to continue the theme, whilst also adding the wow factor to the entrance hall.
Action taken
We initially had a couple of meetings with the customer at their home and at our workshops to discuss options, and to provide them with a finished design/specification.
Once the staircase was almost complete, we assembled it at our workshops to make sure every component was ready and working. This also gives the customer a chance to come to our workshops and look over everything before it comes to their home.
Outcome
The old staircase came out in half a day and the second half of the day was used to fit the new staircase to the point that the customers could safely get upstairs. The rest of the week consisted of us finishing the landing, fitting handrails, and finally getting the glass templates test fitted and approved by the customers, ready to then send the templates to our glass suppliers.
Once the glass was delivered to us, we went to the site for the final time and installed it, giving everything a once over and leaving our customers to enjoy their finished staircase.

From the initial meeting and discussion about what was possible and feasible, their approach and attention to our wishes were second to none. What really impressed me was their ability to accommodate all the little details and nuances that were proposed at the outset. Nothing seemed like too much trouble and I was able to visit their workshop and agree on the staircase details during the production process.
When it came to installing the new staircase, the disruption was minimal and we were able to use the new staircase the same day. Everything was transparent from the cost to the timescales involved and the whole process couldn’t have gone any better. The quality of workmanship was impeccable, which was only matched by their attentive customer service.
