The Brief
We were tasked with transforming an outdated paint-finished and carpeted staircase, which featured numerous spindles in the balustrade, into a modern, light, and airy oak staircase with glass panels.
The existing staircase was structurally sound and of high-quality construction, allowing us to recommend a renovation rather than a complete replacement. This approach enabled the customers to achieve their desired transformation while significantly reducing costs.
Action taken
Once the customers had selected their preferred samples and finalised the design, we manufactured all the necessary components. Upon arrival on-site, we began by removing the outdated paint-finished elements and installing the new oak components. Throughout the project, we ensured a safe handrail was in place on both the staircase and landing, allowing the customers to move safely within their home while work was underway.
Outcome
The final stage of any staircase renovation involves installing either a glass or spindle balustrade. In this case, glass was chosen to maximise light transfer between the upper and lower floors, creating a bright and open feel. The transformation from the previous spindle balustrade to the new glass design was remarkable, and the customers were extremely pleased with the result.
