The Brief

This bespoke kitchen and utility room project was carried out for returning customers of ours, who have been gradually renovating their home in Selsey, West Sussex. Over the years we have built them a feature hardwood front door and many items of furniture, but now was the perfect timing in their renovation schedule to commission a bespoke kitchen and utility.

The customers had looked at some high-end mass-produced kitchens but soon realised their wants and needs – particularly units fitting into every space thus maximising the room layout – was not being catered for by the mass producers.

They needed a company who would hand build everything to the millimetre, therefore fitting their kitchen and utility furniture perfectly into the space they had in their home.

Action taken

The customers designed most of the kitchen and utility themselves, meaning we only needed to tweak the design slightly to facilitate the doors and drawers working correctly and awkward corners being useful storage and not just blanked off.

We produced many sample door and drawer fronts as well as plenty of sample moulding details giving the customers maximum choice and allowing them to choose and alter even the smallest of details.

As we made the kitchen and utility, we gradually assembled it in our workshops and invited the customers over regularly to view progress and make any changes.

Outcome

Once the kitchen and utility were fully assembled and approved by the customers at our workshops, we could then get everything loaded and delivered to site for fitting.

The fitting was undertaken by the same guys who built it. We like the manufacturers installing what they have made as they know it inside out and can also take great pride in seeing something go from raw materials to a fitted, finished product.

The finished kitchen and utility looked amazing, the customers organised a very professional hand painter specialising in kitchen cabinets and furniture. We incorporated a lot of LED lighting within the kitchen cabinets and drinks bar which in the nighttime looks lovely and really shows off the Walnut within the cabinets.
