The Brief

We were contacted by customers who were having their home renovated and wanted a real statement piece staircase for their entrance hall, something that they would not only enjoy using every day but would be a great piece to show to visitors when entering their home.

The customers liked some previous staircases we had done in Walnut but unfortunately their budget couldn’t stretch to solid Walnut, we always aim to make our customers happy, take on ideas and adapt them to reach customers wants and needs.

So, we had a think and came up with a solution – make the stairs from solid Ash and then stain it to copy the look of Walnut but for a fraction of the price. This way would fit what the customers liked the look of and would also fit within their budget so was a great alternative.

Action taken

The next step was to finalise the staircase design and then onto plenty of site visits as to carefully measure up and get templates cut. This is a very important stage as it needs to all fit in perfectly when fitting the piece. After this stage, we could then go about mixing some high-quality stains together to get the perfect Walnut look on the Ash hardwood.

Outcome

The fitted and finished staircase really did look the part and the customers were overjoyed, we crafted their statement staircase but also achieved that solid Walnut look they were after all along.
