The Brief
We were contacted through our website by customers who needed to replace the French doors that lead out of their bedroom dormer onto a raised decking area. The existing French doors had been made from Pine and hadn’t had regular, quality decorating carried out on them. As such. the doors were suffering but cosmetically and structurally.
Not only were the French doors and the frame past their best but the lead work/flashings had been poorly installed and needed replacing on the sides of the dormer.
Action taken
After getting all the accurate sizes on-site, we set about drawing a 1-1 scale drawing in our workshops, not only for us to work from but also to help give the customers the perfect opportunity to see the layout and make visual changes easily.
The customers wanted to change the original design to incorporate two small opening windows in the glazed sidelights to enable a nice breeze to enter the bedroom while maintaining locked door security while asleep.
Outcome
The finished French doors fitted perfectly, and were swapped over in a day, maintaining weatherproofing and, of course, security.
The second day on site was the finishing off all around the doors and frame and coordinating the lead work, which was professionally carried out by Darren, owner of Target Roofing, who we always use and recommend for all our roofing requirements.
