Ash Staircase & Landing
The Brief
We worked with a customer to create them a beautiful ash staircase and landing, meeting all of their requirements and reaching their vision to enhance their home. For this job, we were asked to make a solid Ash staircase, but instead of the more popular request to feature glass in the project we were asked to use spindles – traditional but these ones had a modern twist.
Action taken
First, we did an initial site measure at the customer’s home, this is to ensure all pieces are made to fit and the vision is reachable with the space available. We then invited the customers to our workshops, to look at samples and discuss fine detail. It’s great to let the customer be involved with all steps and have a feel of how our skilled team create their product. After getting all elements together with the customer, we could then go about making the Ash stair and all the components needed for fitting.
The customers chose a very unique turned spindle from an online retailer which presented us with a bit more careful marking out than usual when fitting, as they wanted the twist on the newel posts and spindles to line up on various sections.
We also worked in conjunction with the customer’s electrician, as they wanted LED light strips set into the underside of the stair to illuminate an otherwise hard to light up area. This worked great and meant we could help with the placement of the lights in the perfect places of the ash staircase.
Outcome
The finished ash staircase and landing looked the part, fitted perfectly and really enhanced the space. The customers were very pleased with the work we had done. This is a great example of a staircase that holds all of the modern elements without glass being featured.
