The Brief

This staircase renovation was a straightforward yet impactful project. The customers wanted to replace their painted plank balustrade with a sleek glass balustrade, complemented by a new handrail and base capping. This upgrade would allow natural light from their Velux windows to flow through, brightening both the upstairs and downstairs hallways.

Action taken

After taking precise measurements, we ordered the handrail and began by removing the existing balustrade and handrail. Once the new handrail and base rail were installed, we created glass templates using MDF sheets. This served two key purposes: first, it allowed the customers to visualise the placement of the glass, and second, it ensured the ordered glass would fit perfectly down to the millimetre.

Outcome

The completed staircase was light and airy—exactly as the customers had envisioned. This project demonstrated how even small, budget-friendly changes can make a significant impact on a home’s overall look and feel.
